Volunteer Opportunities
Coordinate the production of the newsletter: Pick up copies from the printer; fold, seal, label them; collate by zip code and batch for post office.
Clean and organize our kitchen: Once a month-top to bottom.
Monitor Assistant: 6:30-7:30 AM seven days a week (or just one!) Assist the shelter monitor during the busy morning rush by assisting with laundry; dispensing client's personal property bins; checking that client's have done their chores and are "good to go."
Monitor Assistant: 4:00-6:00PM, seven days a week (currently filled except for Sunday and alternating Saturdays.) Assist the shelter monitor during the busy evening hours by assisting with laundry; dispensing client's personal property bins, toiletries, towels, etc.
Special Event Volunteer: We have fundraisers throughout the year that you can participate in, such as; Barbecue Cook-Off in June or July; Battle of the Bands on August 26th; Christmas Tree Auction and Holiday Festival on December 6th.
Provide and Serve Evening Meal: An evening meal is provided and served each evening at 6:00PM. Numerous area churches, a caterer and other individuals have committed to specific days of the month. We currently have the following days open: 1st Tuesday; 1st Friday; 1st Saturday; 2nd Thursday; 3rd Friday; 4th Wednesday; 4th Thursday, as well as any 5th Monday through Sunday of the month. Please note that since we do not have a commercial kitchen at the shelter, meals must be prepared elsewhere (specifically in a commercial kitchen) OR be something suitable for preparation in our warming kitchen (for example, canned soups, sandwiches and/or salads.)
